The Families of the Missing and Murdered Children Speak Out

Eunice Jones, Clifford Jones’ mother, “Tell Wayne Williams that I know he didn’t murder my child and that I pray for him.”

Emanuel Williams, Clifford Jones’ brother, “Many years ago, I wrote Wayne Williams a letter. Williams was nice enough to take the time to write me back and express his condolences for my brother’s death. After that letter, I had even more faith that Wayne did not commit these murders. It makes me sad that Wayne’s life has been taken away from him, just like these children. Wayne got taken away from his mom and dad for no reason. He is really the last victim in the Missing and Murdered case.”

Venus Taylor, Angel L. Lenair’s mother, “I, Venus Taylor, am the mother of Angel L. Lenair - who was murdered and found tied to a tree on March 5, 1980. I was told by a GBI agent that the person who killed Angel was the son of one of the most prominent families in Atlanta. He was never brought to trial.”

Catherine Leach, Curtis Walker’s mother, “Wayne Williams didn’t kill my son. I’ve written a book about my child, me and Wayne Williams. It’s called A Voice That Was Made Silent and it will be published sometime this summer, 2014. The book speaks a lot about how I was treated and how all the parents were treated. We were not heard and were treated like we were just low class, black people that lived in low income housing. Our children were referred to as “street kids” and it was like they didn’t matter. It’s been over 30 years and I still cry about my son. My other sons cannot even talk about Curtis because it is so painful. The pain never goes away.”

Stevie Rogers, Patrick Rogers’ sister, “I am Stevie Rogers, the sister of Patrick Rogers. My family has never believed that Wayne Williams had anything to do with the killing of my brother.”
